FRJÓ, the Old Norse word for seed, is an imagined institute working on saving plants in the Norwegian flora threatened by foreign invasive species. The institute was created during the course Speculative design
together Steffen Silseth
and Tina Stokkan
. By utilizing SYNSEED technology
, a cutting-edge technology, FRJÓ can synthetically produce seeds without the need for a living host plant.
This project was my first attempt at using code to generate visual elements for use in commercial applications. The choppy looks of the selected typeface, GT Cinetype, form the basis for both the design of the logo and the building blocks of the pattern. Looking to avoid the cliché of green color palettes, the brand colors consist of dark grays and striking yellows highlighting the technology aspect of the institute.
